Padel court lighting solution

Padel (Padel Tennis) is gaining global popularity, spreading from Europe due to its fun and social nature. However, many courts suffer from poor lighting—insufficient illuminance, uneven light distribution, and severe glare—leading to a poor player experience, visual fatigue, and even member loss.

Solution Core: Compliance with EN 12193:2018 Standard
Our design strictly follows the European sports lighting standard EN 12193:2018, ensuring professional optical performance:

The Standard of Professionalism: Adhering to the Core of EN 12193:2018 Lighting Design

To ensure Padel can be played in the best visual environment, we strictly adhere to the European authoritative standard EN 12193:2018 "Lighting of Sports Events." This standard provides a comprehensive technical framework for sports venue lighting design, with core metrics including:

  • Illuminance: The luminous flux received per unit area, measured in lux (lx). It determines the overall brightness of the court. The standard sets detailed requirements for horizontal and vertical illuminance based on different activity levels (e.g., training, amateur competition, professional competition, TV broadcast).

  • Illuminance Uniformity: The ratio of minimum illuminance to average illuminance on the court. High uniformity ensures soft, shadow-free light distribution across the entire playing area, key to ensuring fair play and visual comfort. A uniformity of at least 0.7 is typically required.

  • Glare Rating: A psychophysical quantity used to quantify the degree of discomfort glare. By controlling luminaire brightness, mounting height, and projection angles, the glare rating is limited to an acceptable range to protect the vision of athletes and spectators.

  • Color Rendering Index (CRI) & Correlated Color Temperature (CCT): CRI measures a light source's ability to reveal an object's true colors; a high CRI (recommended Ra>80) is crucial for TV broadcasting. CCT affects the ambient atmosphere; Padel courts typically choose neutral white light between 4000K-5000K, maintaining alertness and focus without sacrificing softness.

The table below summarizes the core lighting parameter recommendations for different Padel court usage scenarios, based on the principles of EN 12193:2018:

Mark:

U2hor : Minimum to Average Horizontal Uniformity

U1hor : Minimum to Maximum Horizontal Uniformity

RG : Glare Rating
